Save Darden Hill Road

Driftwood, TX 78619

Hays County is building a four-lane, 45 mph highway through our neighborhood. The county's plan puts freight traffic directly alongside elementary school bicycle routes. Their own studies recommended two lanes. They collected our input, documented our opposition, and advanced a four-lane plan anyway.

What We're Asking For

  1. Traffic noise study before advancing the design
  2. 35 mph speed limit matching Sawyer Ranch Road
  3. Truck weight limit — no freight next to schools
  4. Two lanes with turn lanes at intersections
  5. No future extension — no regional corridor
  6. Community re-engagement before finalizing the design

The county builds bike paths for children and a 45 mph highway for trucks — on the same road. Our homes are our largest investments. This plan permanently degrades the safety, quiet, and property values that define our community.
